People will line up on Riverside Avenue at noon today to watch students compete in the 29th annual Homecoming Bed Race.
Forty-two teams of five will dress up in themes and speed down the 100-yard course to out do one another.
Jenny Pyle is the Bed Race chair on the Homecoming Steering Committee.
"The Bed Race is one of our longest running [Homecoming] events," she said. "It's really interesting to watch because how many chances would you get to see a bed race?"
The overall winner will be awarded a trophy and the winning team in each division will receive a plaque. An award also will be given to the best dressed team.
Prizes, which are valued at up to $200, also will be given out to people in the audience who can answer trivia questions.
About 1,500 to 2,000 people are expected to watch the race as long as the weather is nice, Pyle said. If it starts raining heavily by 10 a.m., the race will most likely be cancelled.
