A Ball State University soccer player was arrested Saturday for the second time in a year, according to police and jail officials.

Junior Jennifer Vilkoski, 21, was arrested at her off-campus home on charges of failure to appear in court, according to police reports.

Vilkoski was released from Delaware County jail later Saturday on the legal agreement that she would appear for her court date, according to jail officials.

Police originally arrested her last year on suspicion of minor consumption of alcohol, a Class C misdemeanor, according to the Muncie City Court. Her original trial date was set for Aug. 6, but she did not show up. An arrest warrant was issued the same day for her failure to appear, according to the court.

According to police reports, Vilkoski was unaware there was a warrant for her arrest when police approached her at home.

If she is convicted of minor consumption, she could receive up to 60 days in prison and a maximum fine of $500, according to the Indiana Code.

Phone calls placed Thursday to Vilkoski were not returned.

Ball State soccer coach Michael Lovett and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins declined to comment about Vilkoski's arrest Thursday. Collins said he was told of the arrest Thursday and did not want to comment because he did not have enough details.

Vilkoski started 19 of Ball State's 20 games last season, missing one game Oct. 14 against Western Michigan University because of an injury. She has started 30 games in her three-year career and played in five others. Vilkoski, the centerback, is one of the team's key defensive players.

Ball State had a 0.63 goals against average in 2007, the best in the conference. The Cardinals also had 10 shutouts, including seven in a row, which was a program record and second best in conference history. The team also limited its opponents to 162 shots on the season, the fewest allowed in the team's nine-year history.

Last year the Cardinals won their second consecutive regular season MAC championship. Vilkoski is one of eight starters who are expected to return to the team in the fall.
