Ball State University's Student Education Association won an award while three members gave presentations at the Indiana State Education Association Fall Conference on Saturday and Sunday at Union Station in Indianapolis.

SEA president Jonathan Maple said the group won the 2007-2008 Outstanding Local Chapter Web site Award.

ISEA held the conference to help teachers' methods, he said.

Three Ball State students gave presentations on the first day of the conference, he said. Wade and Kristin Fisher presented "Outreach to Teach", ISEA's annual initiative to help an Indiana school in need of repair. This year, Maple said, SEA members from across the state will help repair Tell City High School.

Amanda Waltermire, senior English education major, gave a presentation on grants, awards and scholarships offered through ISEA, he said.

Professionals in the field gave speeches on helping teachers land their first job, how to give effective presentations via technology and how to deal with bullying in the classroom.
