Recreation center to increase fees

Students will have to pay about $100 more per year for 20 years

Future Ball State University students will have to squeeze out more money to enjoy on-campus exercise facilities. Tom Morrison, associate vice president for business affairs, said although no student fee estimates have been approved, students should expect to pay about $100 per year to offset the cost of the Student Wellness and Recreation Center.

Indiana one of nine states to allow ballots to be cast early

With the May 6 Indiana primary less than two weeks away, Ball State University students who registered to vote in Delaware County can cast their ballots early this year. A new state law, in its first application, requires county clerk's offices to open 30 days prior to election day for early voting.

Ticket holders vote for bands to see at Launching Pad

Students and Muncie residents can rock out for nine straight hours this weekend at the University Square parking lot. WCRD promotions manager Jade Sullivan said The Launching Pad and WCRD are hosting the first Village Music Fest from 2 to 11 p.m Saturday. "We're just hoping to get people out there and to get WCRD into the local music scene," she said.

Students interested in learning more about the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community can attend some of Spectrum's biggest traditions this weekend. Spectrum President Travis Schilla said anyone can come to the last three events of the organization's week of events.

College Bowl team heads to national event for first time

Five students will compete in tourney

Instead of studying for final exams, five Ball State University students will spend the weekend in St. Paul, Minn., where they will be putting their knowledge of trivia to the test. Ball State's College Bowl team will compete Saturday and Sunday at the national level at Macalester College for the first time in the competition's 55-year history.

Obama to speak at Anderson High School Saturday

Sen. Barack Obama will visit Anderson on Saturday, the presidential candidate's campaign office announced Thursday. Obama will speak at Anderson High School where he will have a town hall meeting. Doors open at 12:30 p.m., and the event begins at 2:15 p.m.

Governor's RV to visit campus for registration drive

Gov. Mitch Daniel's campaign RV will visit Ball State University where campaign staff will work with a student organization to register voters Friday. Derek Trovillion, RV coordinators for Daniel's campaign office, said RV1 will be in the parking lot near the Art and Journalism Building and Teachers College from about noon until 5 p.
