As the minutes dwindled to John McCain's acceptance speech Thursday night, the discussion throughout Park Hall's multipurpose room ignored the analysis on CNN. In fact, the murmur soon transcended it. More than 20 people throughout the room debated policy, rhetoric and politics.

Using the national spotlight as its guide, Ball State University is announcing progress on a new fundraising campaign Friday night.
Ball State Bold, a capital campaign totaling about $200 million, is being presented during halftime of the Ball State vs. Navy football game.

Money could extend mentorship program for disabled students

When senior Stacye Cline transferred to Ball State University, she found the university's services for students with disabilities a breath of fresh air.
"I transferred here from a small liberal arts college where I was the only disabled student on campus," she said.

University ranked among 157 best colleges in Midwest

U.S. News and World Report ranked Ball State University 14th on its top 70 "Up-and-Coming Colleges" in its latest college listings. "There are tremendous faculty members at this university who are looking to do innovative things to engage students in the learning process," Provost Terry King said.
