Sigma Kappa sorority brought in more than $1,000 for Alzheimer's research during its annual Aces High card game tournament Friday at Irving Gym.

President Abby Kaffenberger said between 30 and 45 people participated in Texas Hold'Em, Euchre and other games.

She said Sigma Kappa sold lollipops and raffle tickets as well. The sorority will sell more lollipops as part of its national philanthropy movement in December in the Atrium, Kaffenberger said.

"Overall it was a great turnout," Kaffenberger said. "It was a greater success than last year. [Next year] we might try to add a few more casino-type games and try to pair with a fraternity."
