Students and faculty are invited to donate blood 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Wednesday in Pruis Hall's lobby.

Administrative coordinator Kim Hiatt said Ball State University Staff Council and National Society of Collegiate Scholars are sponsoring Indiana Blood Center's blood drive.

"It's just a very easy way to help people," Hiatt said. "All you have to do is just give a little bit of your time."

Blood types O-positive, O-negative, A-negative and B-negative are low in supply, she said, but all types are welcome.

Donors will receive T-shirts and snacks after giving blood. Gift cards and coupons from restaurants, gas stations and Wal-Mart will also be raffled off.

The drive will be the staff council's 20th for the Indiana Blood Center since November 2004, Hiatt said. Since then the drives have received more than 3,200 units of blood. Roughly eight units of blood equal one gallon, she said.

More than 430 people donated blood in September's drive, she said, and she would love to see more this time.

"The No. 1 reason people don't donate is because they aren't asked," Hiatt said.
