Funeral services for Ball State University freshman Joel Marley were held at Grandstaff-Hentgen cemetery Nov. 5 in Wabash.

Marley died at Wabash County Hospital on Oct. 31 from a car accident about a mile South of his hometown of Wabash.

Freshman David Perry said Marley was a fun person to be around and was a good man. He had fun with whatever he could and was the best friend anyone could have, his friend said.

Perry, Marley's best friend since high school and his roommate at Ball State, said Marley was unsure what he wanted to do with his life.

"He just cared about people in general," he said. "He would have made a good psychologist. Actually he could have been good at anything he wanted to. He always made questions about everything and was so intelligent."

His aunt Suzie House said Marley lived with her and his uncle Shawn House. He was a single child but he was a beloved nephew and was well-known among his friends at Northfield High School and Ball State.

House said Marley had several passions, but overall he was active and social.

She said he was kind and generous and loved music, movies, playing guitar and video games. He loved having fun, she said.

"He was such big part of our life that I can only assume that everyone that met him [on campus] loved him as much as we did."
