Coach Brady Hoke told his team at halftime this game would provide an answer.

MOUNT PLEASANT, MICH. -In the biggest game of the season against the two-time defending Mid-American Conference champions, running back MiQuale Lewis rushed for the biggest total of his career.
On 28 carries, Lewis ran for 11 more yards than his previous career high, racking up 177 yards against Central Michigan University in Ball State University's 31-24 victory Wednesday.

INDIANAPOLIS - Butler University did not stray far from its comfort zone against the Ball State University men's basketball team Wednesday night as the Cardinals lost 65-54 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. With Ball State focused early on Butler's 6-foot-8-inch Matt Howard by double-teaming the center, the Bulldogs were left with several open options beyond the 3-point line, including Butler's Garrett Butcher, who was three-for-four from beyond the arc.

INDIANAPOLIS - Hampered by injuries, the shortened bench came up short for Ball State University men's basketball coach Billy Taylor on Wednesday.
The Cardinals were missing sophomore forward Malik Perry and freshman guard Randy Davis for the second-straight game to open the season.

If Central Michigan University defeats Eastern Michigan University next week, the Ball State University football team must win next week against Western Michigan University to ensure a Mid-American Conference West Championship and an appearance in the MAC Championship game in Detroit's Ford Field.

Ball State University has opened the season with 11 straight victories, which is the best start for a Ball State team in the 84 seasons of football at the school.This year's run of 11 straight victories is the fourth-longest winning streak in school history in any sport.
