Long career path leads man of family values to Ball State

When he was giving a valedictorian speech at West Aurora High School in Aurora, Ill., Billy Taylor spoke about role models and how, unfortunately, people in his community looked up to athletes and musicians rather than positive figures. He spoke of his parents as a major influence on his life, but also mentioned a doctor who gave up a chance to make money in the private practice and opened a free clinic in inner-city Chicago.

Ball State players use offseason to keep game in shape

While the majority of Ball State University students were able to relax during summer vacation, Cardinal golfers spent most of their time traveling to various amateur tournaments across the state.
When students were relaxing, hanging out with friends or working to earn extra money, Cardinal teammates Ben Lakoff and Brian Maurer, among others, were working to prepare for the fall season.

Cardinals search for first winning season in more than 10 years

During the 2006 football season, Brady Hoke coached Ball State University to its most successful season in Mid-American Conference play since 2001.
Although Ball State finished with a losing record on the season, the Cardinals earned a 5-3 mark in the MAC, giving them their first winning record in conference play in six years.

Playing in a prime-time ESPN game at the University of Toledo last year, Ball State's football team won a 20-17 thriller in front of a national audience.

Kloeckener expected to play key role after Cards lose top scorers

After leaning heavily on three seniors last year, the primary issue surrounding the Ball State University field hockey team entering the 2007 season is getting increased production out of its players.
Last season the Cardinals' three-pronged attack of Carla Chiampi, Tara Reed and 2006 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year Lindsay Quay combined to record 60 points, tallying 25 goals and 10 assists.
