Junior Andrew Rhodes shot a 74 in both rounds for a 148, and tied for 61st. Freshman Anthony Novak rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals with a 154, which was tied for 89th.
Despite shooting a 295, seven over par, in the first 18 holes, Ball State fired back with a second-round score of 286. Ball State is 20 strokes behind leader Marquette University.
Coach Mike Fleck said he is hoping his team can work its way into the top third of the field.
"We didn't finish round one very well, but I am proud of the fact that we got it going in the second round," Fleck said. "The goal tomorrow is to keep that momentum up."
The Cardinals and other teams will play the final 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament today.
