While the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is dealing with a two-year probation, multiple NCAA investigations, arrests and allegations of improper procedures from former coaches, it now has more to worry about.

Five Ball State University athletes tested positive for banned substances Oct. 5, according to a Freedom of Information Act Request released Monday.

The tests included 25 players from 15 of Ball State's athletics teams, according to the release.

The names of the athletes, teams of the athletes and substances the athletes tested positive for were omitted from the provided records.

Three of the athletes tested positive for banned substances for the first time and two tested positive for the second time, according to the documents.

According to the documents, the athletics department punished the athletes who tested positive for the first time with 30-day suspensions from team practices and competitions. The athletes who tested positive for the second time received 90-day suspensions, according to the documents. All of the suspensions began Oct. 5, according to the documents.
