Almost four months after Ronny Thompson resigned from Ball State University, the former men's basketball coach was hired as an analyst for the Washington Wizards and college basketball. Comcast SportsNet Communications Manager Stephanie Offen said Thursday the company's familiarity with Thompson contributed to his hiring to be an analyst for its basketball coverage.

However, when classmate and 2006 starter Caroline Lehman departed the Ball State University field hockey team due to a chronic back injury, the field opened up.

With the Ball State University football team in the heart of its 2007 season, the Cardinals' athletic department released the four games that will comprise the program's 2008 non-conference schedule Wednesday. "We are extremely pleased with the 2008 Ball State football schedule," Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins said.

For seniors Brittany May and Angie Parrell today's match against the University of Toledo is their final regular season match in Worthen Arena. Together the two have played in 206 matches for the Ball State University women's volleyball team in their career.

Ball State vs. Indiana Game Time: Noon Saturday on the Big Ten Network Two teams that have a chance to become eligible for bowl games for the first since the 1990s will play each other Saturday. Indiana's last bowl game was the 1993 Independence Bowl, while Ball State's last bowl appearance was the 1996 Las Vegas Bowl.

Bowling Green A former Bowling Green goaltender was promoted to the NHL Wednesday. The Boston Bruins recalled Jordan Sigalet after Bruins' goaltender Manny Fernandez strained his knee in practice Tuesday. Sigalet was selected by the Bruins in the seventh round of the 2001 NHL draft.
