Nearly a week after experiencing a career game on Ball State University's first nationally televised home game, Cardinals' safety Alex Knipp earned his first Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Knipp had a career-high 15 tackles and added a second-quarter interception against the University of Toledo, helping Ball State to a 41-20 win. The victory made Ball State bowl eligible for the first time since 1996, and it was the first time since 2002 the Cardinals won six games in a season.

Knipp is the Cardinals' third-leading tackler with 75, which is also the most of any Ball State defensive back.

Knipp has 75 tackles this season, including 25 solo tackles. He also four interceptions.

Knipp has started in eight of the Cardinals 11 games this season.
