After 11 years, excited fans eagerly awaiting a Ball State University appearance in a bowl game will embark on an eight-hour journey from Muncie to Toronto aboard chartered buses.

The Alumni Association announced Wednesday that it finalized a package for fans to travel to the International Bowl. The buses will leave for the Jan. 5 game at 9 a.m. Jan. 3 from the Alumni Center.

Ed Shipley, the executive director of alumni programs, said spots on the buses are unlimited because more buses can be reserved to accommodate fans.

Aboard the bus, fans will be provided with a box lunch.

Once in Toronto, fans will get two nights' lodging, a ticket for the game and a pre-game outing.

The fans who travel on the chartered buses will stay at the same hotel as the football team, the Sheraton Centre Toronto.

People who go on the charted buses will have Friday to do whatever they want, Shipley said. Saturday, there will be a pre-game outing at the Rogers Center.

The pre-game party will be held at Windows, a three-tiered banquet facility at the stadium. The party is also open to people who are not on the charter for $25 each.

The trip costs $480 for a single occupant, $320 per person for double occupancy, $290 per person for tri occupancy and $270 per person for quad occupancy.

The Alumni Association tried to make the trip reasonably priced, Shipley said.

"We're not making any money on this," he said.

A charted plane was considered, Shipley said, but will not be offered because it was too expensive.

Shipley said he was encouraged because fans now have multiple options on how to travel to the game.

Fans who travel on the ground, such as on the chartered bus, will need a photo ID and an original copy of their birth certificate to enter Canada. People who travel by air need a passport to cross the border.

Shipley also said he was encouraged because people were calling to reserve seats on the charter just minutes after it was put on the Alumni Association's Web site, www.bsu.edu/alumni.

Fans can reserve their seats on the charter or get more information by calling the Alumni Association at (765) 285-1080 or at 1-888-I-GO-4-BSU. They can also send e-mails to alumni@bsu.edu.

To purchase tickets for the game but not the charter, fans can call the ticket office at (765) 285-1474 or (888) BSU-TICKET. They can also go to ballstatesports.com to buy tickets.
