Slates address off-campus, on-campus issues, administration, greeks, platforms

Jabs, laughs and heated responses filled the all-slate debate Monday night as Andrews-Albritton '08 and Campus Alliance tried to convince students why they would be the best slate to lead Student Government Association. Like the Feb. 21 presidential vice-presidential debate, each slate was given two minutes to respond to a question.

Football player Kenny Meeks could get 60 days in jail

A Ball State University football player was released on $1,000 bond from Delaware County Jail after being arrested on charges of two Class C misdemeanors, according to jail officials.
Police arrested Kenny Meeks about 2:20 a.m. Sunday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and operating with a blood-alcohol content of .

Monday seminars instructs employees how to file citations

Some department members attended training seminars for the smoking ban policy Monday to learn how to file $50 citations targeting violators. Thomas Morrison, associate vice president for human resources and state relation, said a smoking ban notification and smoking ban citation form were sent to department chairpersons, directors, deans and university police.

Seven students work on plan for Indiana's Homeland Security

A small room in the Art and Journalism Building houses more than 60 students, seven of whom are creating the crisis communication plan for the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. IDHS asked Cardinal Communications, a student-run, interdisciplinary public relations agency, to create the plan that details the process for communication in a time of crisis, associate professor of journalism Bob Pritchard said.

Vehicle slides 1,000 feet before coming to a stop; driver to be charged with leaving scene of an accident

A 1992 Mercury Cougar ran a signal at the intersection of East McGalliard Road and North Broadway Avenue, colliding with a Norfolk-Southern freight train.
Crash Investigator Kyle Temple said the train's conductor reported the crash at 9:20 p.m.
The train struck the car's passenger side, pushing the vehicle for 1,000 feet before coming to a stop, he said.
