Spring Break has come and gone, but for the party goers, the calories from alcohol are here to stay. Kimberli Pike, family and consumer sciences instructor, said calories in alcohol can lead to weight gain for people and the only way to combat that is through moderation.

Sophomore suspended from team after suspected alcohol violations

A member of the Ball State University men's tennis team has been suspended indefinitely following an arrest, coach Bill Richards said. According to Delaware County Jail officials, Ball State police arrested Sophomore Bret Berryman, 20, early Sunday on charges of minor consumption of alcohol, a Class C misdemeanor, and driving while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor.

Andrew Clements first of authors to speak in new series at Ball State

Ball State University, in collaboration with Teachers College, The Book Source and Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing presented the first MYVisit Virtual Author Series Monday night featuring best-selling children's author Andrew Clements. Laurie Mullen, associate dean for teacher education, said in her introduction that Clements considers it a "privilege" to write for children.

Ball State student promotes book on PBS

A Ball State University elementary education major appeared on PBS' "Across Indiana," which was aired Monday in Indianapolis, to promote a book she wrote for children with cancer. Kim Martin said she wrote the first draft of "H is for Hair Fairy" in one of her classes.
