Ball State University police have closed the investigation of an incident involving a banquet and catering services employee.

The investigation began after banquet and catering employee Maetta Vance claimed she and a co-worker were threatened with bodily harm while working at an event at L.A. Pittenger Student Center on March 1, according to police reports.

Director of Public Safety Gene Burton said detectives' findings were forwarded to the Delaware County Prosecutor's Office.

Delaware County Prosecutor Mark McKinney could not be reached for comment Monday afternoon.

Tony Proudfoot, associate vice president for marketing and communications, said two people had been issued no-trespassing orders as a result of the investigation.

Proudfoot said in an interview earlier this month that Vance and another employee were involved in a verbal altercation with two people not affiliated with the university.

Neither the report nor Proudfoot would confirm the names of the suspects or of Vance's co-worker.

According to the Indiana Code, criminal trespassing on a school property is a Class D Felony. Suspects could receive up to 18 months in prison and fines of up to $10,000 if convicted.
