GYMNASTICS: Cardinals lose final regular season meet

In the final meet before the Mid-American Conference championships, the Ball State University gymnastics team lost to No. 13 University of Denver 196.025 to 190.525.

Ball State honored its four seniors - Brittany George, Erica Gilkerson, Kristin Sprague and Lauren West - after the final home meet of their career Friday.

Gilkerson was among the Cardinals' top performers in multiple events. She finished first for the team in the vault, tied for fifth overall, with a score of 9.650. She tied for the team's best score, seventh overall, on the beam with a 9.700. She was also tied for first in the floor for the team, fifth overall, with a 9.775.

Paige Oswalt led Ball State on the bars with a 9.750, her best performance of the season. Cobie Zuk tied Gilkerson on the beam with a 9.700 and Sprague tied Gilkerson on the floor.

Zuk finished third in the all-around with a score of 37.775. Denver's Jessica Lopez won the all-around with a score of 39.500. Lopez qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics.

The Cardinals continue their season at the Mid-American Conference Championship Saturday.
