The Ball State University women's tennis team was shutout 7-0 by Miami University in Saturday's Mid-American Conference openers for both teams.

The RedHawks (7-5, 1-0 MAC) first claimed the doubles point after winning at the No. 1 and 2 spots. Ball State's Emma Retter and Hayley Hall got the team's one match win of the day at the No. 3 spot with a 8-4 win against Miami's Cara Wald and Sydnee Bridger.

The RedHawks would go on to dominate in singles play. The closest singles match of the day came at the No. 6 spot, in which Ball State freshman Georgina Thomson was able to win her first set 6-4 against Bridger but then ended up falling in straight sets.

Miami's Anastasia Dracheva continued her impressive freshman campaign against the Cardinals (7-5, 0-1 MAC). By defeating Ball State's Sophie Quist 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles spot, Dracheva pushed her overall singles record to 8-0 on the season.
