Dining hours to increase

110.5 hours to be added in places such as Noyer, Woodworth

Starting Fall Semester 110.5 hours will be added to various Dining locations around campus. Director of Dining Jon Lewis said Dining had considered increasing the number of hours for a few years with the goal of providing Ball State University students as many hours as possible.

Man arrested for abusing squirrel

Minors filmed man kicking dead animal near parking garage

Three minors found themselves in a squirrelly situation Monday when Ball State University police caught them abusing a dead animal. Muncie resident Robert Dennis, 18, was released from Delaware County jail early Tuesday on $2,000 bond after he was arrested after police say he abused a dead squirrel and filmed it with a cell phone, according to jail and police reports.

North Hall construction to begin in a few weeks to meet 2010 completion date

Bids narrowed to four companies; BSU to likely go with lowest

Fall 2010 will not only bring new faces to Ball State University, but also a new residence hall: North Hall. North Hall, which will be located across from Studebaker West, is on its way to making its first appearance on campus. In order to meet the scheduled August 2010 completion date, on-site construction will begin in a few weeks.

SGA passes legislation

Senators have last meeting of semester, are proud of work

In the last meeting of the semester, Ball State University Student Government Association senators passed two pieces of legislation and approved three people to Student Senate. One piece of legislation would integrate the services of the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and the Ball State Bookstore.

No decision made on retrial

Judge is still deciding fate of McKinney v. Duplain civil case

More than two months after plaintiff's attorneys filed for a retrial, a U.S. District Court judge is still deciding on the fate of the McKinney v. Duplain civil case. According to the U.S. District Court Clerk's Office, Judge Richard Young had made no formal decision as of Wednesday afternoon whether the trial, which has cost Ball State University more than $1 million thus far, will go back to court.

Project teaches students how zoos work

Immersion class creates videos for display, does research

This semester zoology and biology students were involved in an immersion learning class with the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo to create videos for displays and do research that benefited the zoo. Professor of Biology Gary Dodson said the immersion project was aimed at helping students become involved and learning how zoos work.

54 students volunteer

96 percent of graduate students participate in community service

Ninety-six percent of the graduate students at the center have participated in community service this year, Steve Jones, director of the Center for Information and Communication Sciences, said. The center has 54 graduate students and all but two of them spent at least one hour per week Fall Semester helping local non-profit organizations, he said.
