While at Jimmy John's yesterday, I was shocked and disgusted by a flyer that was posted by the new Village bar, Be Here Now, advertising a 6-act concert taking place at the venue this Saturday, September 11. The ad featured a large photo of the Twin Towers, accompanied by the text "What's more unbelievable than two 30-ton planes bringing down two 100-million ton buildings in 20 minutes? These six acts all playing in one night!" This sad attempt to poke fun at a national tragedy in order to build publicity for a concert is shameful. With cheap stunts like this, it's no wonder businesses continue to struggle in the Village.
I'm sure the six acts being featured on Saturday have worked hard for their opportunity, and it's too bad.
Be Here Now decided to stoop this low to try to get people in the door for this event. Regardless, I would hope students recognize how inappropriate this advertising is and choose somewhere else to spend their Saturday night. Be Here Now is quickly proving to everyone on Ball State's campus that it's nowhere to "Be" at all.

You apparently don't grasp the idea of "Letter to the Editor." When you see those words in the headline, you should know that it's going to be an opinion, one that is not necessarily that of the Daily News (or any media outlet). It is an opportunity for readers to voice their opinions about things that are of concern to them. Now if this were a reader submitted article, yeah, it has little journalistic integrity because of the subjective material, but the DN clearly prepared you for an outside opinion and didn't present it in a way to suggest that there was an attempt at objectivity. There is nothing unethical here. Pick your battles better so you don't look like an idiot.
