On Saturday, Sigma Nu is hosting their annual spring philanthropy Miss Greek. Miss Greek is a beauty pageant for the social sororities at Ball State affiliated with Panhellenic Council and National Pan-Hellenic Council. This year, there will be 14 women competing from eight sororities.
The women will be judged in four different sessions of the competition. The first segment is creative wear, where contestants show off a costume they designed which embodies their sorority. The second part is the talent section, where each participant will display or perform their own talent. The third part is the evening wear portion, which entails the women being judged on an outfit which they would wear to a nice restaurant or show. The last portion involves contestants being asked a question drawn randomly. The winner with the highest total points from the judges will receive a $500 scholarship.
All of the money raised for Miss Greek will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware County. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a foundation that sets up children in need with positive mentors. This nonprofit organization has been around since 1971.
Miss Greek is at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at Pruis Hall. Tickets at the door are $5 each, and there is a raffle where people can win prizes from Lucky Rabbit, Dragon Slayer, Dairy Queen, Sun Tan City, Noodle and Co. and Tan U Very Much. Raffle tickets are $1 each.
