Ball State practices outside three times in first preseason week

The same weather that drew rave reviews from the out-of-town visitors to Indianapolis for the Super Bowl last week has also been a boon for Ball State baseball. Almost since Jan. 27, the first day the NCAA permits baseball practices, the weather in Muncie has allowed the Cardinals to leave their normal winter home of the Field Sports Building for the roomier turf fields in the Briner Sports Complex. College baseball season starts in exactly three months and to celebrate* that milestone, Ball State released its schedule for 2012. *Ok, maybe not. This will be Alex Marconi’s second season as Ball State’s coach, but this is really the first year he has had much control of the schedule. 1 comment

Cards in the Pros - 8/19

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Cards in the Pros update, or had any Up in the Box posts for that matter. As you may recall, I was interning at Baseball America in the spring instead of covering Ball State baseball. I’m now back with The Ball State Daily News, but my time with BA left me with the habit of occasionally looking through minor league box scores.
