Updating 'An empty rule' with 2011 data

Almost two months ago, I wrote “An empty rule”, which chronicled the difficulties MAC schools have with meeting the NCAA’s minimum attendance policy for football and how they get around the bylaw. Today, the NCAA published its annual attendance report, which includes attendance data from every school and conference in the country, from Division I all the way to Division III.

MAC announces 2012 opponents, division realignment

The Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday that Bowling Green would move to the MAC West Division for football, accommodating the addition of Massachusetts next season. Bowling Green’s move only affects football and means each division will have seven members beginning next year.

Taking a stab at bowl predictions, Round III

Moments ago, Florida International accepted a bid to the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl. And with that, I believe you can stick a fork in Ball State’s bowl hopes. Ball State is the MAC’s sixth best team and likely needed the conference to find a way to put six teams in bowl games.
