A black Friday road trip to the remote city of Fargo, North Dakota proved to be a stern test for the Ball State University women's basketball team (2-3).

The test was too much for the Cardinals however as North Dakota State Universiy (2-3) rallied from behind mid-way through the second half to down Ball State 65-57.

Both teams played a tight game all the way throughout the game. Things started off close with each team trading baskets. A tie at 21 late in the first half sparked a Cardinal run. Ball State would put a 5-0 run on the board, but North Dakota State cut the advantage to two just before the half.

As was the case with the first half, each squad came out of the gates slow and struggled to score at the start of the second half. Audrey McDonald hit her second 3-pointer midway through the second half to put Ball State in front.

Unfortunately, the Bison utilized a 9-0 run with nearly seven minutes left in the game to take the lead for good. However, a McDonald three and layup by Danielle Gratton pulled the Cardinals within two.

In the end, it wasn't enough.

The Bison hit free throws down the stretch as the Cardinals fouled to extend the game. As a result, North Dakota State held on to win 65-57.

Sophomore guard Patrice King was the top scorer for Ball State, tallying 15 points. McDonald and Gratton added 13 a piece. Gratton also grabbed 11 boards to record her first double-double of the season.
