Ball State University junior forward Emily Maggert followed through on her Preseason All-Mid-American Conference West Division selection by finishing fourth in the MAC in scoring and second in rebounding.
But Maggert, who averaged a double-double on the season at 17.1 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, apparently wasn't apparently considered one of the top five players in the conference this season, as she was selected Tuesday as Second Team All-MAC.
Maggert was joined by teammate Audrey McDonald as the lone Ball State postseason award selections. McDonald, a senior guard, was named All-MAC Honorable Mention.
Maggert, who was twice named MAC West Player of the Week this season, has 19 double-doubles on the season, ranking third in the nation. Her 323 rebounds this season are a Ball State single-season record, and with one season to go, her 681 rebounds rank seventh in program history.
McDonald has simply been the most durable player and deadly shooter not only in Ball State history, but also in MAC history. McDonald this season set the MAC record for 3-pointers made, and heads into today's MAC Tournament with 320 career 3s.
McDonald, who finished second on the team with 12.3 points per game this season, is first all-time at Ball State in games started (125), minutes played (4,141), games played (126) and 3-point attempts (789).
Both Maggert and McDonald surpassed the career 1,000-point mark this season.
The Cardinals travel to Cleveland today to take on the University of Toledo in today's MAC Quarterfinal matchup.
